One Piece Episode 899: Zoro Defeats Hawkins' Straw Monster

One Piece is a popular anime series that follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of pirates as they seek the legendary treasure One Piece and the title of Pirate King. The series is based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1997.

In episode 899, Luffy and Zoro are on the run from Basil Hawkins, one of the headliners of the Beast Pirates who serve under Kaido, the emperor of Wano Country. Hawkins has the power to create a straw monster that can redirect any damage it receives to his subordinates. He also uses tarot cards to predict the outcome of situations and manipulate his own fate.

Zoro decides to face Hawkins’ straw monster while Luffy escapes with Tama, a young girl who befriended Luffy and has a mysterious ability to tame animals with her kibi dango. Zoro uses his three-sword style to cut through the straw monster’s attacks and eventually slices it in half, causing it to disintegrate. However, Hawkins is unharmed, as he transferred the damage to one of his men.

Hawkins draws another tarot card and chooses the Hierophant, which indicates that someone will help Luffy and Zoro escape. Indeed, Tsuru, a woman who runs a teahouse in Okobore Town and whom Zoro saved from some pirates earlier, reveals herself and guides them to her place. There, she offers to treat Tama’s fever with some herbal tea.

Meanwhile, Law, another ally of Luffy who has infiltrated Wano Country with his crew, is informed by Bepo that Luffy has arrived and is causing trouble. Law is worried that Luffy will ruin their plan to overthrow Kaido. At Onigashima, Kaido’s island fortress, the emperor himself is restless and angry.

It has also spawned numerous spin-offs, movies, video games, merchandise, and a live-action adaptation in the works.

The story of One Piece is set in a world where pirates rule the seas and seek the ultimate treasure One Piece, which was left behind by the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger before his execution. Roger’s dying words inspired a new generation of pirates to pursue their dreams and challenge the World Government, which controls most of the world.

Luffy is one of those pirates who dreams of becoming the Pirate King. He has a unique ability to stretch his body like rubber after eating a Devil Fruit, a rare and mysterious fruit that grants superpowers to those who consume it. He forms a crew called the Straw Hat Pirates, named after his trademark straw hat that was given to him by his idol and mentor, Shanks. Along his journey, he meets and befriends many characters, such as Zoro, a swordsman who aims to become the world’s greatest; Nami, a navigator and thief who wants to draw a map of the world; Usopp, a sniper and liar who wants to become a brave warrior; Sanji, a cook and womanizer who wants to find the All Blue, a legendary sea where all kinds of fish exist; Chopper, a reindeer and doctor who ate a Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a human; Robin, an archaeologist and former assassin who wants to uncover the true history of the world; Franky, a cyborg and shipwright who built the crew’s ship, the Thousand Sunny; Brook, a skeleton and musician who ate a Devil Fruit that allows him to revive once after death; and Jinbe, a fish-man and former warlord who wants to promote peace between humans and fish-men.

The Straw Hat Pirates face many enemies and obstacles along their way, such as rival pirates, bounty hunters, marines, warlords, emperors, ancient weapons, secret organizations, and mythical creatures. They also visit many different islands and regions, each with its own culture, history, and challenges. Some of the most notable arcs in the series include the East Blue Saga, where Luffy gathers his crew and makes his name known; the Alabasta Saga, where they help a princess save her kingdom from a civil war orchestrated by an evil warlord; the Skypiea Saga, where they explore an island in the sky and fight against a god-like tyrant; the Water 7 Saga, where they face off against a powerful government agency and rescue one of their own; the Thriller Bark Saga, where they encounter a giant ship full of zombies and ghosts; the Summit War Saga, where they get involved in a massive war between the marines and the Whitebeard Pirates; the Fish-Man Island Saga, where they enter the underwater kingdom of fish-men and confront a racist group; the Dressrosa Saga, where they overthrow a corrupt king who has ties to an emperor; the Zou Saga, where they learn about an ancient civilization and their connection to One Piece; the Whole Cake Island Saga, where they infiltrate an emperor’s territory to rescue one of their own; and the Wano Country Saga, where they join forces with samurai and ninjas to liberate an isolated country from an emperor’s rule.
